Description
In the PADI Open Water Diver (OWD) course, your adventure will begin. In the course, students will learn about dive theory and equipment from a knowledgeable and passionate instructor. Following the online learning portion, students spend time in the pool to practice and gain confidence in their skills.
The final phase of certification comes in the form of dives in open water. When taking classes through The Scuba Company, you will go to the Blue Hole in Santa Rosa, NM to complete your four open water dives.
Going to Blue Hole students will each take: 2 full tanks of air, a wetsuit, and a string of weights, all of these rentals are included.
This course is open to anyone ten years of age and older with average swimming skills and good physical health. No previous dive experience is necessary.
The cost of the course includes e-learning materials, equipment rentals for the course, pool instruction, and open-water dive instruction.
Please come see us to get sized for your rental gear BEFORE your Thursday night orientation.
Students will need to purchase or bring their own dive mask, fins, and snorkel (of which we have the largest selection in the state). There is also a $25 fee to dive at the Blue Hole in Santa Rosa.
We encourage new students to purchase DAN dive insurance if they want an extra layer of protection while diving.
Their insurance policies are perfect for divers who want easy, annual coverage with basic travel support. No matter how frequently you dive, DAN membership and dive accident insurance are as essential to dive safety as your PADI training and gear.
